Cikampek - Palimanan Toll Road - a journey

I read the news from Jakarta Post about the construction of Cikampek - Palimanan Toll Road. At last this project come to construction stage after land acquisition matter finally come to complete.

Actually I'am lucky because have been there only a month to assist the project team for identify the temporary works estimates of the project.

Industrialized Building System (IBS) in Malaysia

I have an experience involving with IBS (Industrialized Building System) Construction in 2009 during Penang Second Bridge Project .  The method of construction is very interesting  like playing "logo" or puzzle.

It also called Modular method because it  consist of multiple modules or sections which are built in factories or other facility and then delivered to piece by piece and assemble at site.  The modules or component to be assembled by  using either a crane or others girder methods.

The advantages with this systems are cost effectiveness compared to common conventional construction. Typically  the component to be
constructed in an enclosed facility, therefore weather is not a factor in the construction timeline. Material delivery fees are also out of the equation because an ample amount of material will always be available at the facility, as opposed to being delivered in limited quantities to the job site, nearly eliminating construction delays, and theft of building materials from the site.

By using this system speed of construction can be increase and it can reducing the overall completion schedule by as much as 50%.  Since the method like puzzle,  this modular concept reducing waste and site disturbance compared to site-built structures.

The structure off Yonaguni, a small island southwest of Okinawa, was first discovered 75ft underwater by scuba divers 10 years ago and locals believed it was a natural phenomenon.

Professor Masaki Kimura, a geologist at Ryukyu University in Okinawa, was the first scientist to investigate the site and has concluded that the mysterious five-layer structure was man-made. "The object has not been manufactured by nature. If that had been the case, one would expect debris from erosion to have collected around the site, but there are no rock fragments there," he said.

FIELD DENSITY TEST - EARTHWORK

The first test that i really lesson during first day working as site engineer on 1999 was to conduct Field Density Test for earthworks. I still remember that day until today because i realize that even though i  graduated in Civil Engineering  but i fail to complete my first task.

Field Density Test is carry out at site to determine the  Dry Density Soil on compacted soil.  There are two (2) method currently implemented at site as followings:-

1. Core Cutter Method  (B.S. 1377 Test Method –Test 15(D)) 
2. Sand Replacement Method (B.S. 1377 Test Method – Test 15(A))

Malah  sudah wujud perasaan dikalangan kita yang berani mengatakan bahawa bangsa melayu juga merupakan pendatang sepertimana mereka sehingga berani menuntut hak istimewa bangsa melayu dilucutkan.

Ini dibuktikan sebaik memegang kuasa beliau telah memberi amaran akan menentang setiap pederhaka terhadap kerajaannya secara kekerasan dan menumpahkan darah tanpa menaruh sebarang belas kasihan.
